Biofeedback
Biofeedback is the conscious monitoring of a physiological process that is usually an unconscious action, such as breathing. In biofeedback, a patients’ breathing, peripheral temperature, heart rate, and muscle contraction are monitored (using non-invasive equipment) to teach them how to recognize dysfunctional patterns, such as stress build up, and immediately correct these patterns.
By employing biofeedback techniques, patients can eliminate anxiety during stressful events, and control a variety of chronic conditions such as high blood pressure, IBS and pain.
